Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview
The Dodgers finally snapped their brutal seven-game losing skid with a gritty 2-1 win over San Francisco on Saturday. With Shohei Ohtani leading the charge from the mound, LA got a much-needed reset heading into the final game before the All-Star break.
Now they’ll turn to Yoshinobu Yamamoto (8-7, 2.77 ERA), who gets the ball for this high-stakes rubber match. Despite his stellar numbers, Yamamoto has had trouble with the Giants this season, posting a 7.84 ERA in two starts. One particularly painful outing came in June when he was tagged early, surrendering a first-inning homer and a grand slam shortly after.
This will be Yamamoto’s last start before heading to Atlanta for his first MLB All-Star appearance, an honor he deeply values. A bounce-back effort here could set the tone for a strong second half.
San Francisco Giants Betting Preview
San Francisco came out swinging in Game 1 of the series, surviving an 8-7 thriller, but their bats cooled off Saturday. They’ll lean on All-Star southpaw Robbie Ray (9-3, 2.63 ERA) to regain the upper hand and clinch the series before the break.
Ray has been lights-out recently, allowing just three earned runs over his two July starts, and the Giants have won 15 of his 19 starts overall this season. The lefty is no stranger to the Dodgers, with a 3.33 ERA in 22 career starts against them. While he won’t pitch in Tuesday’s All-Star Game due to timing, his presence there is another sign of how vital he’s been to this rotation.
With Ray dialed in and pitching at home, the Giants have a real shot to end the first half on a high note.
Prediction:
Look for LA to capitalize on their momentum and the talent edge in their lineup. If Yamamoto stays out of trouble early, the Dodgers could steal one on the road. Expect a strong start from Ray, but LA’s depth may prove too much late.
LA’s All-Star-heavy lineup and Yamamoto’s bounce-back potential give them the edge.
