Game Preview

LeBron James returns to Cleveland, where he boasts a strong 9-2 record as a visitor, this time with his son, Bronny, in tow. The Los Angeles Lakers, looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, will face the unbeaten Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers, off to their best start since the 2016-17 season, are 4-0, dominating opponents with a 16.8-point average winning margin. Cleveland leads the NBA in field-goal percentage (52.8%) and ranks third in scoring (123.5 points per game), with Donovan Mitchell pacing the team at 23.8 points per game and Jarrett Allen pulling down 9.5 rebounds.

“We know they’ve been great the past few years, and it looks like they’ve only improved,” James said, hinting at a tough matchup ahead.

The Lakers have been riding Anthony Davis, who currently leads the NBA in scoring with 32.8 points per game, while Austin Reaves is adding 19.3 points per game to their offense. LeBron himself had an off night in their recent loss to Phoenix, with just 11 points on 3-of-14 shooting, and hinted he’d been feeling under the weather.

Bronny, despite joining the team, has seen limited minutes so far with just three minutes of play this season. Still, LeBron’s history against his former team remains impressive, holding a 19-3 record while averaging 28.5 points as a visiting player in Cleveland.

The Lakers swept the Cavaliers in last season’s series, and they’ll look to make a statement again before their next matchup in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.
