Fresh off their first Super Bowl win since moving back to Los Angeles, the Rams, with talent they added to their roster in the offseason and the returning stars, have definite plans to be the first team since the Patriots to win back-to-back championships. With quarterback Matthew Stafford running the show along with star receiver Cooper Kupp and defensive stalwarts Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey, the Rams were also able to add some firepower to an already potent team. While Stafford will still rely on Kupp tremendous abilities, the former Lion did lose Robert Woods, who was traded, and Odell Beckham Jr., who remains unsigned in the wake of his torn ACL, he suffered last season.
The Rams may not need Beckham Jr. after all as they were able to sign WR Allen Robinson. The former Jaguar and Bear has never really played with a quality signal-caller in his career, so he may have his best season yet. WR Van Jefferson should continue to improve after a strong sophomore year in which he collected 802 yards receiving with 50 catches and six touchdowns. Sony Michel, who carried the offense on the ground, on to greener pastures, Stafford will get to feed the ball to capable rusher Cam Akers, who played in just one game last season before tearing his Achilles. The Florida State product should revert to the dynamic back who dashed through opposing defenses as a rookie back in 2020.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams did lose edge rusher Von Miller and cornerback Darious Williams in free agency but still boast a superb unit led by DT superstar Aaron Donald and recently added 8th time pro-bowler LB Bobby Wagner. Another new member on defense is an old face. The Rams re-acquired cornerback Troy Hill in a trade with the Browns on the same day they drafted four defensive backs. Hill will reprise his role in the slot, while three-time pro bowler Jalen Ramsey and David Long play outside. Ramsey is easily one of the best corners in the league while Long’s role will be elevated with Williams’ departure. Safeties Jordan Fuller and Taylor Rapp are back and should continue their stellar play at the position.
The Rams will be battle-tested in their first game of the season when they host Super Bowl favorite Buffalo and will have tough games against the Cowboys, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Raiders, Packers, Chargers and do play the 49ers and Cardinals twice this season.

The Bottom Line:
Of the 22 starters in last year’s Super Bowl run, sixteen have returned and three of the other six spots were greatly upgraded with the arrival of Wagner, Hill and Robinson. The Rams should probably take the NFC West this season but they will be tested with a brutal schedule. The Rams won their first Super Bowl despite significant injuries to their starters. If the team can stay healthy, I don’t see why the Rams cannot repeat as champions or at least reach the championship game
Last year’s record: 12-5
My Prediction: 12-5
