The Indiana Fever are heating up, riding a three-game winning streak as they return home to host the Sparks on Saturday night. Indiana hasn’t lost since June 26 and that defeat came at the hands of L.A. They’ve responded in a big way, capped by a dominant 81-54 blowout over the Las Vegas Aces.
Kelsey Mitchell torched Vegas for 25 points and dished out six assists, while Aliyah Boston put up 20 points and pulled in seven boards, moving to fifth on the Fever’s all-time rebounding list. Indiana’s defense deserves just as much credit, forcing 19 turnovers and holding the Aces to just 33.9% shooting.
Even with Caitlin Clark’s status still up in the air (groin strain, missed four straight), the Fever have proven they can produce and lock down elite teams. They’re playing with cohesion and intensity, and it’s translating to results both straight up and against the spread.
Los Angeles Sparks Breakdown
The Sparks roll into Indy on a two-game skid and have lost six of their last seven overall. Thursday’s 89-79 defeat to the Liberty exposed defensive gaps, though Dearica Hamby continued to shine with 25 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.
The team also saw the debut of Belgian guard Julie Vanloo, fresh off a EuroBasket title. Vanloo joined L.A. after a whirlwind departure from Golden State but brings experience and leadership to a team that desperately needs it.
Despite flashes of offensive potential, L.A.’s defense remains an issue, especially against top-tier teams. They’re giving up too many second-chance points and struggle to close out shooters, a dangerous formula against a Fever squad that thrives in transition and on hustle plays.
