Game Preview

After racking up 32 runs across three consecutive wins, the Arizona Diamondbacks aim to keep their offensive momentum in their series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night in Phoenix.

Arizona (82-64), leading the National League’s primary wild-card race slightly ahead of the San Diego Padres, will try to maintain their slim edge. Meanwhile, the NL Central-leading Brewers (84-62), hold a comfortable nine-game lead over the Chicago Cubs.

The Diamondbacks recently swept the Texas Rangers, capped by a dominant 14-4 victory that featured 13 extra-base hits, including five home runs. Eugenio Suarez and Randal Grichuk were standouts, with Suarez hitting two home runs to bring his September total to seven and Grichuk marking his 200th career homer.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo praised his team’s approach at the plate, highlighting their patience and ability to wait for the right pitches during this powerful stretch.

Milwaukee comes off a 3-0 shutout win against the San Francisco Giants, taking two of three games in that series. Brewers rookie Jackson Chourio made history by becoming the youngest player to achieve a 20-homer, 20-steal season in MLB history.

Freddy Peralta (10-8, 3.81 ERA) will start for Milwaukee, bringing a history of success against Arizona, including a 3-0 record and 0.55 ERA in four career appearances. Arizona will counter with Eduardo Rodriguez (2-2, 5.83), who looks to rebound from recent struggles, including a loss to Houston in his last outing.

As both teams vie for postseason positioning, this series could significantly impact their playoff trajectories.
