Seattle’s walk-off win on Saturday was a Hollywood-script moment for 21-year-old Cole Young. In his major league debut, the highly-touted prospect delivered the game-winning RBI in the 11th inning and added a single, a walk, and solid defense to his résumé. Safe to say, his call-up from Triple-A Tacoma is off to a dream start.
Veteran slugger Cal Raleigh continues to rake, launching his 22nd homer of the season., tying Shohei Ohtani for the MLB lead. Meanwhile, reliever Collin Snider deserves a shoutout for two clean frames in extras, giving Seattle’s bullpen a much-needed breather after back-to-back 10th-inning collapses earlier in the week.
Luis Castillo will take the mound Sunday, looking to build on three straight quality starts. Although he’s struggled historically against Minnesota (1-2, 5.05 ERA), he’s been solid lately and should benefit from home cooking.
Minnesota Twins Outlook
Saturday’s extra-inning loss stung for Minnesota, especially after getting solid contributions from returning slugger Matt Wallner, who went deep in his first game back from a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, the Twins came up empty in both the 10th and 11th innings, despite having chances.
Manager Rocco Baldelli didn’t stick around to see the ending, getting ejected along with Carlos Correa for arguing with the umpire in the seventh. Even so, starter Chris Paddack has quietly been effective, despite dropping his last two starts. He’s pitched well in both, and he owns a 4-1 record with a 2.45 ERA in five previous starts vs. Seattle.

The Mariners are riding a wave of emotion behind Young’s debut and look poised to take the series. Castillo has enough in the tank to outduel Paddack in a tight one. Expect a low-scoring game.
