Game Preview

Giancarlo Stanton has been delivering solid performances over the past week, hitting .300 with five RBIs, two home runs, and three doubles since August 27.

Stanton and the Yankees (80-58) aim to secure a series victory when they face the Texas Rangers in the second game of a three-game series on Tuesday in Arlington, Texas.

Manager Aaron Boone praised Stanton, highlighting his exceptional career achievements and current form. "He’s really swinging the bat well right now," Boone commented. "I’m excited about the impact he has in our lineup."

In the series opener, Stanton hit his 25th homer of the season, marking the 10th time in his career he has reached that milestone. "It’s quite an achievement," Stanton said. "The main thing is it contributes to our wins."

Stanton forms part of a dynamic trio with Aaron Judge (51 homers) and Juan Soto (37 homers), making them the only teammates in the majors this season each with at least 25 home runs.

The Yankees’ lineup was strong on Monday, with eight of nine players getting hits. Notables included Soto (2-for-4), Gleyber Torres (3-for-5), and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (2-for-4). Judge, although quieter, still managed another RBI, adding to his league-leading total of 124.

Carlos Rodon (14-9, 4.31 ERA), tied for the second-most wins in the American League, will start for the Yankees. He holds a 2-1 record and a 3.96 ERA over six career starts against Texas.

On the other side, the Rangers (65-73) aim to rebound from their recent loss—their second in seven games. Rookie pitcher Jack Leiter, reflecting on his matchup against Gerrit Cole, described it as a "dream scenario," despite a challenging sixth inning.

With the Rangers looking towards the next season, the focus is on giving young players like Leiter more opportunities to develop.

Veteran Andrew Heaney (4-13, 3.95), who has pitched strongly in his last two starts, will take the mound for Texas on Tuesday. He has a 1-4 record with a 5.35 ERA in seven career starts against the Yankees.

Texas third baseman Josh Jung has also been hitting well, with a .297 average since August 23, contributing significantly to the Rangers’ efforts.
