Giants: Trying to Stop the Oracle Park Curse

The San Francisco Giants are tired of losing at home. Six straight home defeats have the crowd looking like they’re waiting for a Marvel post-credit scene that never comes. But this could be the game that snaps the streak, if Justin Verlander can remember he’s Justin Verlander and not some alternate-universe version with a 1-8 record and a 4.80 ERA.

Heliot Ramos has been the rare bright spot in San Francisco’s lineup, hitting .269 with 14 homers and 50 RBIs. But the rest of the offense has been more unpredictable than a cat walking on a keyboard. Still, when the Giants out-hit their opponents, they are 28-12, proving that scoring runs, shocker actually helps win baseball games.

Score Prediction (Giants): Giants 5

Pirates: The Road Woes Saga

The Pirates have been nearly as bad on the road (14-37) as my uncle’s fantasy football picks every year. Bailey Falter will start, bringing a respectable 7-5 record and a 3.82 ERA. Falter has been steady, but his lineup has given him as much run support as a car with three tires.

Oneil Cruz continues to show power potential with 17 home runs, but beyond that, the offense looks like it’s in witness protection. Andrew McCutchen is 7-for-41 in his last 10 games, which is about as inspiring as a soggy sandwich.

Score Prediction (Pirates): Pirates 3

Final Thoughts & Game Outlook

San Francisco is desperate to break its home slump, and Pittsburgh’s road record looks like the perfect get-right spot. With Verlander on the hill and the Pirates’ lineup struggling, the Giants should have enough to grab this one, even if it isn’t pretty.

Prediction: Giants win 5-3 in a game that feels longer than your last DMV visit.

Final Score Prediction:  Giants 5, Pirates 3
