Seattle vs Detroit MLB Playoff Preview & Pick

Moneyline: Seattle -135
Spread: Seattle -1.5 (+135)
Total: 8.5

Seattle Mariners Outlook

The Mariners head into Game 3 with momentum on their side after grinding out a 3–2 win to even the ALDS. Jorge Polanco’s two home runs and Julio Rodríguez’s clutch RBI double in the eighth proved to be the difference, helping Seattle avoid an early series hole.

Now, the Mariners aim to steal back home-field advantage behind right-hander Logan Gilbert, who’s been a reliable postseason arm. Gilbert posted a 3.28 ERA against Detroit in his career and held the Tigers to just three runs across 10⅓ innings this season. His command and ability to limit long balls will be key in a tight, pitcher-friendly matchup.

Seattle may be without first baseman Josh Naylor, who left for personal reasons, but this lineup still has plenty of firepower. Rodríguez has been red-hot, hitting .444 through two games, and his aggressive approach at the plate continues to spark the offense. Expect Seattle to lean on timely hitting and pitching efficiency to take control of the series.

Mariners Betting Angle: Seattle is 7-3 in its last 10 games as a road favorite and has been profitable in low-total matchups. With Gilbert’s consistency and the bullpen locked in, the Mariners are well-positioned to edge another one-run game.

Detroit Tigers Outlook

Detroit returns home with the series tied 1–1 and the crowd at Comerica Park expected to bring the noise. Manager A.J. Hinch’s squad knows the importance of seizing momentum in Game 3 after a missed opportunity in Seattle. The Tigers managed just three hits in Game 2, and that lack of offensive punch can’t continue if they want to stay alive in the series.

Right-hander Jack Flaherty gets the start, looking to build on a solid Wild Card outing where he allowed just one run over 4⅔ innings. While Flaherty has postseason experience, his 5.05 career playoff ERA shows he’s prone to trouble when command slips. Against a patient Seattle lineup, early efficiency will be crucial.

Detroit’s offense has been inconsistent all year, and they’ll need players like Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson to step up against Gilbert’s mix of fastballs and sliders. A bounce-back effort from the heart of the order could tilt this game their way.

Tigers Betting Angle: Detroit has thrived at home, winning 8 of its last 11 at Comerica. However, they’ve struggled to produce against top-tier pitching. Their best shot is to strike early before Seattle’s bullpen takes over.

Prediction & Betting Angle

This ALDS matchup has been razor-close, and Game 3 should be no different. With two capable starters and both offenses relying on clutch hits rather than fireworks, expect another tight, tactical battle. Gilbert’s consistency gives Seattle the edge, but Detroit won’t go quietly.

Score Prediction: Mariners 4, Tigers 3
Pick: Seattle (-135)
Total: Under 7.5 (-105)
