Boston Red Sox Betting Preview
The Red Sox pulled off another dramatic win on Friday thanks to a walk-off bomb from Ceddanne Rafaela, rallying from a 4-1 hole to edge Tampa Bay 5-4. That’s now eight straight wins, the longest active streak in baseball.
Rafaela wasn’t the only young gun to flash, Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony were instrumental late, showcasing a glimpse of Boston’s promising future. Veteran Alex Bregman also returned from the IL and laced a double in his first game since late May.
Now, Boston sends All-Star lefty Garrett Crochet (9-4, 2.39 ERA) to the hill. He’s struck out at least seven in eight straight starts and enters Saturday with 151 Ks in just 120.1 IP. He won’t pitch in Tuesday’s All-Star Game to preserve his arm, so expect a full-effort outing here.
With Tampa’s bullpen faltering and Boston surging, the Red Sox have a great shot to extend the streak to nine.
Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview
The Rays have now blown leads in back-to-back games and lead MLB with five blown saves this month. Relievers Bryan Baker and Pete Fairbanks have taken the heat, and manager Kevin Cash is looking for answers.
