Game Preview
Royce Lewis has been making up for lost time with the Minnesota Twins this season.
After missing 58 games due to a severe right quadriceps injury sustained in the season opener, the third baseman returned on June 4 and has been impressive at the plate ever since.
The talented 25-year-old aims to continue his hot streak as the Twins kick off a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night in Minneapolis.
"I’m really happy with where my swing is at right now," Lewis commented. "It feels solid."
In his 12 games this season, Lewis boasts a .390 batting average (16-for-41) with seven home runs and 11 RBIs. His recent performances include home runs in his last two games, three out of his last four, and four out of his last six.
Lewis has also played a role in boosting teammate Carlos Correa’s performance at the plate. Correa has hit .511 (24-for-47) with four home runs and 13 RBIs in his last 11 games, and he credits Lewis for providing support in the lineup behind him.
