The Tennessee Titans were a couple of home-wins away to make the Super Bowl last season and while the defense did its job limiting the Bengals to 19 points while sacking Joe Burrow 9 times, their offense was atrocious. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for just 220 yards but his 3 interceptions were the catalyst in their loss in the divisional playoff. Tannehill has a knack to throw costly picks but it could get worse rather than better for him this season as he lost his best receiver in A.J. Brown, who was traded to Philadelphia.
It will be a lot to ask for a rookie to replace Brown as the Titans chose WR Treylon Burks 18th overall in this draft and although they acquired Robert Woods via a trade, the 30-year-old is coming off a torn ACL and is surely not an upgrade over Brown who is not even 25. The Titans were very quiet in free agency this offseason and their draft collections saw no smash-hit aside perhaps for QB Malik Willis whom Tannehill’s aloofness towards the rookie was harshly criticized. Tennessee signed TE Austin Hooper and cut guard Rodger Saffold with no other notable comings and goings.
RB Derrick Henry entered last season as a two-time reigning NFL rushing leader and despite missing 9 games with a foot injury, he still managed to rack up 937 yards with ten scores. Fourth-round RB Hassan Haskins should be provided with some touches in replacement for D’Onta Foreman. Defensively, the Titans are a force to reckon with, with Harold Landry III, Denico Autry and Jeffery Simmons combining for 29.5 sacks. Safeties Kevin Byard and Amani Hooker are considered the best tandem in the NFL while the linebackers corps is fearless.
The Titans play in the AFC South so four total games against the Jaguars and Texans should be a cinch to claim. However, Buffalo, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Green Bay, Cincinnati, LA Chargers and Dallas are all on their slate this season.

Losing A.J. Brown was huge and Tannehill could suffer behind center as a consequence which may result to a potential quarterback controversy with rookie Malik Willis. They don’t have to worry against Jacksonville or Houston in their division but losing the title to the Colts who are the favorites could leave the Titans out of a playoff spot in the tough AFC. At 34, Tannehill will continue to weigh down his squad but the defense and RB Derrick Henry will do just enough to carry the Titans to a wild card berth.
