Toronto Blue Jays 2023 MLB Preview, Season Odds, Props & Futures Predictions

Expectations are once again high for the Jays. The Jays signed 1B Brandon Belt, traded for OF Daulton Varsho and signed SP Chris Bassitt.

Toronto Blue Jays 2023 MLB Preview, Season Odds & Betting Props

Its worth noting that the Toronto Blue Jays had a strong 91-win season in 2021, putting them in playoff contention until the final days of the season. Despite having one of the best lineups in the American League with a league-leading 116 OPS+ and ranking second only to the Yankees in runs per game with 4.78, they still fell short in the division and finished seven games behind their rivals.

Although they secured a playoff berth, their postseason run was cut short with back-to-back losses to the Seattle Mariners in the Wild Card round. As bettors look ahead to this season, it’s important to consider whether or not the Blue Jays can overcome their past shortcomings and compete for a division title. With a strong lineup and potential improvements on the pitching side, this is definitely a team worth keeping an eye on.

What to expect in 2023?

The Toronto Blue Jays’ impressive starting lineup when considering their potential success this season. Since the start of the 2020 season, their 113 wRC+ is tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best in baseball, and they are projected to continue their strong offensive performance in 2023.

Despite losing All-Star Teoscar Hernández and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., they still have a projected 4.66 runs per game, which trails only the Atlanta Braves (4.74) and Houston Astros (4.68). By comparison, the Yankees are projected to score only 4.45 runs per game.

FanGraphs and PECOTA predict that the Blue Jays will win around 89 games this season, making them one of the Yankees’ biggest rivals in the AL East. They also have a strong chance of making it to postseason play with a 73.5% probability and a small but not impossible chance of winning the World Series at 5.9%.

As bettors prepare for this upcoming season, it’s clear that the Toronto Blue Jays will be a significant contender in their division and could pose a challenge to any team they face on their quest for playoff success.
