New York Yankees 2023 MLB Preview, Season Odds & Betting Props

The New York Yankees are once again expected to be a top team in the American League and contend for a World Series title in 2023. With Aaron Judge back in the fold, the team has one of the game’s most talented players leading their offense.

However, as with any team, there are always question marks heading into a new season. Last year, the Yankees struggled down the stretch and were swept in the ALCS by the Houston Astros. This year, they will need to stay healthy and avoid prolonged slumps if they hope to make a deep playoff run.

On the positive side, New York has made several key additions to its roster this offseason. The signing of Carlos Rodon gives them another elite starting pitcher to complement Gerrit Cole at the top of their rotation. The addition of Anthony Rizzo also provides them with a proven left-handed bat and solid defense at first base.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen how all these pieces will come together for the Yankees in 2023. But with their talent and resources, they should once again be considered one of baseball’s top teams and a legitimate threat to win it all.

What to expect in 2023?

It’s understandable to be cautious about the New York Yankees’ win total for 2023, given their second-half struggles last season and the challenges they will face in a competitive AL East.

The loss of Jameson Taillon and Jordan Montgomery during the offseason, combined with injury concerns for Carlos Rodon and Frankie Montas, could leave the Yankees with a thin starting rotation behind Gerrit Cole. If Luis Severino experiences injury troubles again or Nestor Cortes regresses from his 2022 performance, it could put even more pressure on Cole to carry the load.

Additionally, as you mentioned, the AL East is a tough division with several teams expected to compete for playoff spots. The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles have both improved heading into 2023, while the Tampa Bay Rays always seem to find ways to be pesky opponents. And of course, the Boston Red Sox are never an easy team for the Yankees to beat.

Ultimately, betting on Under in year-long counting statistics like win totals can be a smart strategy given how many things can go wrong over the course of a long baseball season. While New York certainly has talent and resources at its disposal, there are enough question marks surrounding this team that taking the Under on their win total could be a wise move.
