Chi. White Sox vs Chi. Cubs MLB Preview & Pick
Moneyline: Chi. Cubs -168
Runline: Chi. Cubs -1.5 (+130)
Total: 7.58.0
White Sox: South Side Is Alive
Remember when the White Sox were collecting losses like loyalty points? Those days are apparently gone.
The South Siders enter this series with a 5 1/2-game lead in the AL Central after sweeping Detroit. They also took two of three from the Cubs in May, so Chicago bragging rights already have some seasoning.
Luis Castillo starts after finally looking like Luis Castillo again. The veteran is 4-9 with a 4.96 ERA, but his latest outing was beautiful: seven scoreless innings, one hit and a season-high 10 strikeouts against Cincinnati.
He’s also 7-6 with a 3.60 ERA in 18 career appearances against the Cubs.
Cubs: Shota Has a Problem
The Cubs are -168 favorites despite losing two straight and surrendering 19 runs to St. Louis over the weekend. Apparently Vegas believes Monday is forgiveness day.
Shota Imanaga enters 8-9 with a 3.74 ERA after allowing four runs and three homers over 4 2/3 innings against Washington.
The bigger concern? Imanaga has surrendered six home runs across his last three starts and owns an ugly 0-1 record with a 9.82 ERA in two career starts against the White Sox.
That’s concerning against an offense leading the American League with 594 runs while ranking third with 164 homers.
LVSB Betting Prediction
The Cubs are laying a hefty -168, but that price feels uncomfortable considering Imanaga’s recent home-run problems and brutal history against the South Side.
Still, the Cubs hold the NL’s top Wild Card position and return home needing a response after their rough weekend. Castillo’s last outing was outstanding, but his 4.96 season ERA makes it difficult to assume he’s suddenly unhittable.
We’ll trust the North Siders to survive another heated Chicago battle, but -1.5 (+130) is asking for unnecessary stress but we can do it.
The total sits at 8.0, and both offenses should have opportunities against starters carrying legitimate question marks.
One city. Two contenders. And approximately zero peaceful conversations at Chicago sports bars tonight.
