Game Preview

The Winnipeg Jets are thriving with the best start in their franchise history, while the Utah Hockey Club has hit a rough patch after an impressive debut. On Tuesday night, the Jets will aim for their fourth straight victory and look to hand Utah its fifth consecutive road loss.

Winnipeg pulled off a thrilling 7-4 comeback win over Tampa Bay on Sunday, marking their 11th victory in 12 games, with seven of those being come-from-behind wins. This latest performance featured Nikolaj Ehlers, who scored to become the NHL’s top Danish scorer with 474 career points. "There was no panic in the group," Ehlers said, highlighting the team’s confidence and structure.

Ehlers, with 17 points, is one of eight Jets players with at least 10 points this season, while Kyle Connor leads with 19 points, maintaining a streak of contributing in every game so far. The Jets, who’ve scored 29 goals at home with a power-play success rate of 8-for-20, seem ready for Utah’s visit.

Utah, now 1-3-2 after a strong 4-1-1 start, is still in a learning phase. Despite a hard-fought 4-3 overtime loss to Vegas on Saturday, coach Andre Tourigny noted, "We got better over three periods." Logan Cooley, with two goals and two assists in his last four games, has been productive but has yet to score against Winnipeg. Utah’s leader, Clayton Keller, has struggled against the Jets, with only six points in 19 games.

In goal, Utah’s Connor Ingram holds a 2.96 GAA in home starts but has struggled on the road with a 4.10 GAA, while backup Karel Vejmelka has a 3.04 GAA this season. Meanwhile, Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, at 8-1-0 with a 2.33 GAA, has been solid despite conceding 12 goals in his last three home games. Backup Eric Comrie, however, has been reliable with a 2.67 GAA and three wins this season.

The Jets’ depth, firepower, and home advantage set them up well against a Utah squad still finding its rhythm on the road.
