The Minnesota Vikings are currently favored to win against the New York Giants, however, the Vikings have had poor performance in the second half of the season, ranking 30th overall and 25th on offense. They have also struggled on defense, specifically with their run defense and have switched to a man coverage scheme which has not been effective.
On the other hand, the Giants offense has been strong and has performed well against man coverage. The Giants defense is also weak, ranking 31st in DVOA. Based on this analysis, it looks like the Giants may have the upper hand in this matchup.
Why do I say that? Well simply because I’m thinking we’re going see the Giants dial it back as far as blitzing, maybe hold it back a little bit. It’s the first time they have their healthy four defensive linemen on the field at the same time all season. They’re just going to rush that offensive line and press Justin Jefferson on the line to give them plenty of help overtop. And to add fuel to the fire here, the Vikings are going to be with our starting right tackle Brian O’Neill who has a top 10 passer blocking rating in the NFL. That being said, im locked in with the Giants at +3 for this matchups.
