On Wednesday, the Philadelphia 76ers will travel to Boston to take on the Celtics in a crucial matchup that could help them gain ground in the Eastern Conference standings. The Celtics currently occupy first place, one game ahead of Milwaukee and three games ahead of Philadelphia who are alone in third. The 76ers had their eight-game winning streak away from home snapped by New York on Sunday, with Joel Embiid leading the way with 31 points and 14 rebounds while making 18 out of 19 free throw attempts. This will be a hard fought battle between two of the top teams in the East, with plenty on the line for both squads.
Looking into some injuries, the Sixers are questionable with their star center Joel Embiid as he deals with a left foot soreness, while the Celtics will be without Marcus Smart, though Jaylen Brown will return to action as he’s coming back from an illness.
As we look into some trends for this matchup, the Sixers haven’t are 1-5 against the spread in their last 6 road games versus a team with a home winning % of greater than 60%, while Boston is 8- 1 against in their last 9 games versus a team with a winning % above 60%.
That said, I’m taking the Boston Celtics to cover the spread at -4.5 for my free pick of the day. Boston has just been good this year at covering the spread at home, and if Embiid is a no-go for tonight’s game, they should have no problem covering the ATS.
