Francisco Lindor continues to ignite the New York Mets’ playoff charge, aiming to solidify their postseason ambitions as they seek a sweep against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.
Right-hander Tylor Megill (3-5, 4.82 ERA) will take the mound for the Mets against Boston’s Tanner Houck (8-9, 3.12). The Mets are on a six-game win streak, while the Red Sox have lost their last four games.
Lindor extended his hitting streak to 14 games and his on-base streak to 32 games with a two-run homer in Tuesday’s game, showcasing his MVP-worthy performance since assuming the leadoff role. Since May 18, Lindor has batted .307 with 23 homers, blending stellar defense with robust offensive output. Despite this, overtaking Shohei Ohtani in the MVP race remains a tough challenge, given Ohtani’s historic run towards a 50-homer, 50-steal season.
The Mets (75-64) have improved significantly with Lindor at leadoff, drawing within half a game of the Atlanta Braves for the last National League wild-card spot. "I’m focused on playing to win, seeing where it leads us at the season’s end, and hopefully into the playoffs," said Lindor.
