The Golden State Warriors welcomed Klay Thompson back to the lineup last season after a near two-year absence and for the fourth straight time that the core of Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Thompson were together for an entire playoffs, they won the NBA Championship.
The new supporting staff stepped up in a big way, none more so than Andrew Wiggins who was arguably the second-best player -after Curry- in the playoffs. Jordan Poole made a starring role as Curry-lite throughout the season, which also helped the team to find a second layer of elite scoring.
Two key bench players were not retained as the team goes for a repeat as Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton II left. But veterans Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychel Green were signed to help plug those holes.
The door is also wide open for their three young lottery picks, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman to take on a larger role. That is part of what makes this campaign so intriguing. If they can become key contributors in their own way and the stars can stay healthy for the playoffs the sky is the limit for this team.

The Warriors will most likely use the regular season for the dual purpose of getting Kuminga, Moody and Wiseman accustomed to a larger role, while also positioning themselves as a top-four team in the stacked West.
But it only makes sense to give planned rest to Curry, Green and Thompson, as the only thing that really counts for this team is the playoffs.
This team has the best culture in the NBA from ownership through management, coaching and their superstars. Thompson is now further removed from his devastating injuries and they have an incredibly talented next generation of young players who are hungry. There is no team better set to succeed this year and I think one should bet accordingly.
