Game Preview
The Minnesota Twins geared up for a three-game weekend series against the red-hot Houston Astros in Minneapolis.
Just how ready were they? The Twins’ offense exploded for 21 runs in the first two games, including a 9-3 win on Saturday, setting the stage for Sunday’s decisive rubber match.
Before facing the Twins, the Astros had won 21 of their last 30 games. However, Minnesota’s bats came alive with 14 hits to take the middle game of the series.
"We were well aware of the challenge this series posed," Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. "We know the caliber of the team we’re up against. They’re playing exceptionally well, hitting as good as any team out there, even without one of the game’s best players, Kyle Tucker, which speaks volumes.

Right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (3-1, 3.52 ERA) is slated to start for the Twins on Sunday. In his last outing against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, he allowed three runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings but did not factor into the decision in a 5-3 win.
Woods Richardson has been solid at home, posting a 1-0 record with a 3.69 ERA and 32 strikeouts against 12 walks over 31 2/3 innings in six starts this season.
