Las Vegas Aces Outlook
It’s been a rocky ride for the defending champs. Las Vegas enters Tuesday’s clash at Barclays Center sitting at .500, with recent inconsistency plaguing their performance. After an embarrassing 81-54 blowout loss to the Caitlin Clark-less Fever, the Aces bounced back with a necessary victory over a struggling Connecticut squad, but questions remain.
Coach Becky Hammon didn’t hold back, calling out the team’s lack of effort and execution. They’ll need to flip the switch fast, especially on offense, after shooting just 26.2% in that loss to Indiana.
The bright spot? A’ja Wilson. The reigning MVP remains a beast on both ends, ranking top-2 in points (21.9) and rebounds (9.0), while leading the league in blocks (2.6). With her usage peaking in big games, expect Wilson Over 20.5 Points to be a sharp prop play.
New York Liberty Outlook
The Liberty haven’t quite looked like the powerhouse that started 9-0. Now losers of six of their last nine, they’re limping into this marquee showdown, especially with former MVP Jonquel Jones sidelined (ankle). Without her, New York’s elite defense has cratered, giving up nearly 19 more points per 100 possessions.
Breanna Stewart continues to carry the load, but her outside shot has completely abandoned her (just 19.6% from deep). That said, she’s still contributing nearly 20 points per game and stuffing the stat sheet across the board.
Keep an eye on point guard Natasha Cloud’s status, if she suits up, Cloud Over 6.5 Assists offers great value given her team-leading playmaking role.
Betting Prediction
Bovada oddsmakers have the Liberty as -5.5 favorites at home with the total set at 166. While both teams are underperforming relative to past seasons, New York’s depth, defense at home, and revenge motivation should prevail.
With Jones out and both teams shooting erratically of late, expect a gritty, low-scoring slugfest between two frustrated contenders.
