Memphis Grizzlies 2022-23 NBA Preview, Season Odds, Props & Futures Predictions

Memphis Looks to Build on Breakout Season

Ja Morant put the NBA on notice last season with an electric and efficient style of play that put him in the NBA’s elite. But the Grizzlies are far from a one-man band. Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks in particular raised their game and the team finished second overall in the competitive West and took the Warriors to six games in spite losing Morant in game two of the series.

The team remains incredibly young and their core got younger when they opted not to pay defensive stalwart De’Anthony Melton and traded him to the 76ers. Instead, they’ve added three new draft picks to the roster, highlighted by F Jake LaRavia who was drafted 19th overall and came over from the Timberwolves on draft night and David Roddy who was drafted at 23 and came from the 76ers.

The only player on the roster above 30 is Danny Green who came over in the 76ers trade and the three-time champ’s influence will be felt more in the locker room than on the floor as he’s set to miss most of the season.

But this is a team, much like the Warriors a decade ago that seems ready to be an elite and possibly a championship contender year in and year out.

Liev Jackson NBA Season Prediction on Grizzlies:

The Grizzlies have fallen through the cracks somewhat with veteran teams returning to health and improving, such as the 76ers, Nets and Clippers along with a large collection of strong existing contenders.

Long story short, at +2500 to win the championship for a team that was arguably one unlucky injury and a little bit of seasoning away from beating the Warriors, that is terrific value. The team was growing by leaps and bounds every night in the playoffs.

This team is hungry and Green is a sneaky great add to help provide that leadership. I love the Grizzlies as the best underdog option to win both the team and key individual awards this season.
