New York Yankees Preview

The Bronx Bombers are heating up at the right time, riding a five-game winning streak into Saturday’s tilt with the Cubs and aiming for their longest run of the season. Their offense erupted in an 11-0 thrashing in the series opener, thanks largely to Cody Bellinger’s revenge-fueled power display.

The former Cub launched three two-run homers on Friday night, torching his old squad and extending his hitting streak to 16 games. The slugger is hitting .406 over that span and has been a nightmare for opposing pitchers. Bellinger is clearly at ease in pinstripes, and his bat is powering a Yankees team that has won with both offense and defense of late. Aaron Judge continues to deliver gold-glove defense and clutch at-bats, adding stability to the lineup.

On the mound, Max Fried gets the call for New York. The southpaw is 11-2 with a sparkling 2.27 ERA and hasn’t lost since early May. He’s been nearly untouchable against the Cubs in his career, boasting a perfect 6-0 record and 1.18 ERA across six starts. The lefty’s ability to neutralize left-handed bats and generate soft contact makes him a tough assignment for a Cubs lineup lacking rhythm.

Chicago Cubs Preview

It’s been a rough couple of weeks for the Cubs, who’ve dropped four of their last six and were shut out for the fourth time since June 1 in Friday’s blowout loss. Their offense has looked flat, and they’ve now allowed 11+ runs in back-to-back losses.

On the hill, Matthew Boyd gets the nod. The All-Star left-hander has been quietly dominant this season with a 2.52 ERA and a 9-3 record. He’s allowed just two earned runs or fewer in eight consecutive starts and has been especially effective since early June. However, history hasn’t been kind to Boyd when facing the Yankees, he’s 1-3 with a 5.17 ERA in six career starts against them.

The challenge will be keeping New York’s red-hot bats in check and giving the Cubs a shot to steal one on the road. With the Yankees hitting their stride and Fried on the mound, the odds are stacked against them.

Prediction & Betting Picks

The Yankees are locked in, especially with Bellinger and Judge producing. Fried’s dominance against Chicago tips the scales further.
