Philadelphia Eagles: Trying to Regain Swagger
The Eagles have had a rough couple of weeks, capped by an ugly 34-17 loss to the Giants that had Philly fans ready to throw cheesesteaks at their TV screens. A 10-day cooldown gave Nick Sirianni’s squad time to regroup and rewire before heading to Minnesota.
The offense has been sputtering like a used lawn mower. Jalen Hurts hasn’t looked like his Super Bowl MVP self, Saquon Barkley is still searching for his first 100-yard game, and star receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are clearly frustrated. Even veteran lineman Lane Johnson called out the “predictability” of the playcalling.
Philly still owns a top-tier defense, ranking third in scoring prevention in the NFC, but the offense’s inconsistency has put constant pressure on that unit. The Eagles’ defensive backs have also been hit-or-miss, with rookies and veterans trading blown assignments. Against Minnesota’s air attack, that could spell trouble.
If Hurts and Barkley rediscover their rhythm, though, Philly’s offense could finally show some balance, which they desperately need to avoid a second straight road loss.
Minnesota Vikings: Wentz Gets a Revenge Shot
The Vikings return from a bye week after their European adventure, splitting games in London and looking fresher than they have all season. With J.J. McCarthy still nursing a high ankle sprain, Carson Wentz once again takes the reins and yes, it’s against the team that drafted and dumped him.
Wentz has been solid since stepping in, showing flashes of his old playmaking ability while minimizing mistakes. He’ll need that poise against an Eagles front that thrives on chaos. Minnesota’s offensive line has been duct-taped together all year, but backup center Blake Brandel has been a pleasant surprise.
The real key for the Vikings lies in ball security. They’ve lost four fumbles in five games, including two that nearly derailed their win in London. If they keep it clean, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison can do serious damage against a vulnerable Philly secondary.
Final Score Prediction & Betting Outlook
This one should be gritty, mistake-filled, and close throughout. Expect both teams to trade punches before Philly’s pass rush takes control late. The Eagles squeak out a narrow win, and Sirianni can finally exhale, at least until next week.
