Houston vs Seattle Preview & Prediction

Spread: Seattle -3.0
Moneyline: Seattle (-177)
Total: 41.0

Seattle Seahawks Outlook

The Seahawks are thriving on the road but can’t seem to find their spark at home. Despite a 3-0 mark away from Seattle, they’ve dropped two of three at Lumen Field, a stadium once known as one of the toughest environments for visiting teams. Head coach Mike Macdonald made it clear that regaining their home dominance is a top priority heading into this Monday night matchup.

Seattle’s last outing was a gritty 20-12 win in Jacksonville that showcased the team’s growing balance. Quarterback Sam Darnold delivered his best performance as a Seahawk, throwing for 295 yards and two touchdowns, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba broke out with eight catches for 162 yards and a long 61-yard score. The offense found rhythm, but it’s the defense that has carried the load lately, generating seven sacks and limiting Jacksonville to just 59 rushing yards.

If Seattle can bring that same defensive energy home, they should have the upper hand. The key will be maintaining composure against a Texans offense that thrives on tempo and quick reads. With a playoff-caliber defense and a confident quarterback, Seattle is in a good position to cover.

Player Prop Pick: Jaxon Smith-Njigba Over 84.5 Receiving Yards — He’s become Darnold’s most trusted target and should see plenty of volume against Houston’s zone coverage.

Houston Texans Outlook

After a slow 0-3 start, Houston has flipped the script with back-to-back wins, including a 44-10 rout of Baltimore before their bye week. Quarterback C.J. Stroud was electric in that game, tossing four touchdowns and earning AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Texans look rejuvenated under DeMeco Ryans, who continues to stress discipline and week-to-week focus as his young team matures.

Defensively, the Texans have been opportunistic, forcing key turnovers and benefiting from the emergence of safety Jalen Pitre. The versatile playmaker already has three interceptions and is being used all over the field, blitzing, covering deep routes, and anchoring the secondary. Houston’s biggest concern will be its ground game, where injuries have thinned the rotation. With Joe Mixon sidelined, Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks have split duties, and while both have shown flashes, consistency has been an issue.

Houston’s offense will need another sharp outing from Stroud to keep pace with Seattle’s physical front. If their protection holds up and the defense forces a takeaway or two, they have a legitimate shot at pulling off the upset.

Player Prop Pick: C.J. Stroud Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns — He’s heating up, and Seattle’s secondary has been vulnerable to quick, over-the-middle throws.

Expert Betting Outlook & NFL Prediction

Seattle’s defense is starting to look playoff-ready, and Lumen Field is due for a statement win. Stroud will make some plays, but the Seahawks’ pass rush should eventually tilt the game in their favor. Expect Darnold and Smith-Njigba to connect early and often, giving Seattle the offensive edge they need to finally defend their home turf.

Final Score:  Seahawks 23, Texans 17
Lean: Seattle -3.0
Total:
Under 41.0
