(13) Gonzaga vs (11) Alabama Preview & Prediction

Spread: Gonzaga -3.0
Moneyline: Gonzaga (-160)
Total: 174.0

Gonzaga is favored by 3.0 and the total is 174.0
Translation: Vegas is expecting buckets, buckets and possibly several federal investigations into defensive effort.

Alabama Crimson Tide: The Chaos Factory

Alabama has already treated its first four games like an early season Final Four tour. Three top ten teams in four outings would make most coaches cry into a visor, but Nate Oats seems to enjoy it like he has a cheat code labeled shoot more threes.

Labaron Philon Jr. is the unofficial mayor of Tuscaloosa at this point. The sophomore guard briefly flirted with the NBA before realizing he preferred torching college defenses a little longer. He is scoring over twenty per game on high efficiency and passing like he is trying to collect achievement points for style.

Alabama has been in rock fights, track meets and whatever that Purdue game was supposed to be. They beat St. Johns, survived Illinois and nearly toppled Purdue. Oats loves every bit of it. He said Philon is in Alabama to win the programs first national championship which is adorable because half the Tide fanbase already thinks the banner is printed and on the way to the rafters.

Defensively Alabama has its moments, although there is also the occasional possession where five players stare at each other like they are trying to remember who left the stove on. Still, they play fast, hit threes in clusters and never blink in big games.

Gonzaga Bulldogs: The Western Basketball Monastery

Mark Few’s squad has been chilling like a team trying to speedrun the season. They hammered Creighton, then beat Southern Utah so badly the scoreboard filed an emotional distress claim. Everything is calm, everything is controlled and everyone shoots over fifty percent for reasons never fully explained to humanity.

Graham Ike is the quiet bully of the rotation, scoring inside like defenders are holograms. Gonzaga rebounds, shares the ball and basically plays basketball like an instructional DVD. They have also had extra rest, meaning they spent the last week meditating, watching film and probably cooking up new offensive sets with names like The Serene Pick and Roll.

And then there is the subplot of former Florida State teammates Taylor Bol Bowen and Jalen Warley meeting again, except now one plays for Alabama and the other for Gonzaga. They both insist it is emotional and meaningful, but do not be surprised if they each try to dunk on the other with extreme prejudice.

Prediction: Buckets, Vibes, and Probably No Defense

This total is set at 174.0 for a reason. Both teams play fast, both teams shoot well and defensive stops may need to be located using forensic reconstruction.

Gonzaga has home crowd energy in Las Vegas, extra rest and a slightly steadier identity. Alabama will punch back, light the scoreboard up and refuse to die quietly.

Final Score:  Gonzaga 94, Alabama 89
Lean:  Gonzaga -3.0

Over 174.0
