Phoenix vs Minnesota Preview & Prediction

Spread: Minnesota -10.0

Total: 224.5

Minnesota Timberwolves Breakdown

The Minnesota Timberwolves are rolling, winners of five straight, but coach Chris Finch is not handing out gold stars just yet. He loves how his team closes games with toughness and execution, but he is getting tired of watching the first quarter turn into a slow motion warm up session. Minnesota has fallen behind early in five consecutive games and needed strong finishes to escape each one.

Finch wants sharper defensive attention from the opening tip. He believes his starters have been too relaxed early and he wants to see the Wolves impose their defensive identity immediately rather than waiting for desperation time. Even with those imperfect starts, Minnesota continues to stack victories. Their latest was a tight 109 to 106 win over the Clippers, following wins over New Orleans twice, San Antonio and Boston.

Offensively the Wolves have plenty of firepower, led by Anthony Edwards who is scoring over twenty eight points per game on impressive efficiency. Julius Randle continues to support him with strong inside scoring and Jaden McDaniels is coming off one of his best outings of the season, dropping twenty seven points on near perfect shooting. Finch praised McDaniels not only for his two way impact but for his control and balance in the mid range game.

Now Minnesota returns home again with a strong chance to extend the streak, especially against a Phoenix squad dealing with injuries and uneven form.

Phoenix Suns Breakdown

The Suns come into Minneapolis searching for stability. They have lost three out of four and just took a tough 117 to 98 loss to Houston. Like Minnesota, Phoenix wants defense to drive their identity, but recently that focus has disappeared whenever shots stop falling. Collin Gillespie admitted the team allowed missed looks to dictate their energy, something the Suns cannot afford against a disciplined opponent.

Phoenix remains short handed. Devin Booker will miss another game because of a groin injury and Dillon Brooks is dealing with Achilles soreness that has left his status uncertain. Without Booker the Suns lose their top scorer and primary creator, forcing players like Brooks and Grayson Allen to carry heavier loads. Both are capable of scoring but neither offers the consistent playmaking punch that Booker provides.

The Suns want to push the pace more and avoid being bullied physically, but the matchup becomes far more challenging without their star guard. If Phoenix wants a competitive game they must stay disciplined defensively and avoid the early game droughts that have plagued them all week.

Prediction and Betting Outlook

Minnesota is in form, at home and much healthier than Phoenix. The Timberwolves have been starting slow, but even sluggish beginnings have not stopped them from finding wins. Against a Suns team missing its best scorer and stumbling on both ends, Minnesota deserves to be a double digit favorite.

The total at 224.5 sits in a range where Minnesota’s efficiency and Phoenix’s inconsistency could tug the game slightly lower, especially if the Suns struggle to generate offense without Booker.

Final Score:  Timberwolves 118, Suns 105
