The Las Vegas Aces stroll into Washington as 6.5-point favorites, with the total sitting at 165.0. Apparently, Bovada oddsmakers watched Las Vegas score 109 points Monday and decided subtlety was no longer required.
Las Vegas Is Heating Up
The Aces are 18-7 after smashing Toronto 109-83, including a casual 60-point first half. Because why save anything for later?
A’ja Wilson led Las Vegas with 26 points, marking the fourth straight game she has topped the team in scoring. She now leads the WNBA at 25.6 points per game and even went 3-for-3 from deep Monday.
That is especially unfair because Wilson was already difficult enough to defend near the basket. Now defenders must chase her outside too, which sounds less like basketball and more like workplace harassment.
Las Vegas has won three of its last four games and ranks third in the league with 90.7 points per contest. The Aces also buried 14 three-pointers against Toronto, turning the game into a lengthy shooting drill with witnesses.
Washington Finds Some Offense
The Mystics improved to 13-12 after beating Golden State 90-82. Washington exploded for 36 fourth-quarter points, which was surprising considering the Mystics average a league-low 79.6 points per game.
Kiki Iriafen scored 23 points after totaling only eight across her previous two outings. She has now reached at least 23 points in three of her last eight games, proving consistency is apparently optional.
Sonia Citron remains Washington’s leading scorer at 17.0 points per game, matching that number Monday.
The Mystics also own the WNBA’s third-best defense, which will be important against an Aces offense currently behaving like someone accidentally turned the difficulty setting to “rookie.”
Betting Prediction
Washington has played respectable basketball at home, going 3-3 over the past month. Unfortunately, respectable may not be enough against Wilson and an Aces team averaging nearly 91 points.
Las Vegas should eventually create separation, but Washington’s defense can keep this from becoming another complete demolition.
