MLB Betting Preview: Giants vs. Phillies

Moneyline: Phillies -157 | Total: 7.5

Philadelphia Phillies Outlook & Betting Edge

The Phillies will send veteran right-hander Aaron Nola (0-3, 5.51 ERA) to the mound as he looks to notch his first win of the season. So far, it’s been a rocky start—Nola has allowed four homers in three outings and struggled with command, issuing four walks in a recent loss to the Cardinals.

Philly’s biggest issue during Nola’s starts? Run support. They’ve scored just two total runs across his three outings. However, there was a flicker of offensive life in Tuesday’s 6-4 win over the Giants. J.T. Realmuto and Bryce Harper both went yard and knocked in a pair of runs, while Bryson Stott and Max Kepler each added two hits.

The Phillies are 1-4 in their last five but looked sharper Tuesday. With a lineup capable of breaking out and a quality starter who’s due for some regression, there’s a good chance Philly keeps the momentum rolling.

Top Props:
Bryce Harper
Over 1.5 Total Bases
J.T. Realmuto
to Hit a Home Run (+ odds)
Aaron Nola
Over 5.5 Strikeouts

San Francisco Giants Betting Outlook

The Giants had won four of five before falling Tuesday night. They’ll turn to Robbie Ray (3-0, 2.93 ERA), who’s undefeated on the year but showing signs of inconsistency. He’s walked nine batters in his last 10 innings and needed 98 pitches to get through just four innings in a rain-shortened start against the Yankees.

Ray does have solid career numbers vs. Philly—4-2, 5.32 ERA in eight starts—but control remains an issue. The Giants’ offense did produce 10 runs in Monday’s win and kept the game close Tuesday thanks to a mid-inning rally.

Verlander coughed up the lead in the sixth on Tuesday, extending his winless streak since joining the Giants. That puts more pressure on Ray to eat innings and limit hard contact against a Phillies lineup that’s finally warming up.

Top Props:
Robbie Ray
Under 5.5 Strikeouts
Thairo Estrada
Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Michael Conforto
to Record a Hit

Final Prediction & Bet Picks

This is a bounce-back spot for Nola and a letdown spot for Ray after a shaky road outing. The Phillies offense showed signs of life Tuesday, and their bullpen is in better shape than San Francisco’s after back-to-back close games.

Prediction: Phillies win 5-2
Best Bet:
Phillies -1.5 (+135 odds)
Lean: Under 7.5 (-105) (if line holds)
Prop Parlay: Harper HR + Phillies ML (+600)

With the bats finally waking up, Philly should notch another win behind their ace.
