Game Preview
Quarterback Will Levis’ standout moment in his short NFL career came during a Monday night game against the Miami Dolphins last season.
As the winless Tennessee Titans prepare to face the Dolphins in Miami Gardens, Levis hopes to recreate that success. Last December, the Titans pulled off a remarkable comeback, scoring 15 points in just 51 seconds to rally from a 14-point deficit and win 28-27, with Levis throwing for a career-high 327 yards.
"It was a lot of fun," Levis recalled about that game. "But we’re both different teams this season. Playing on Monday night is always exciting because the whole world is watching, and we need this win."
The Titans (0-3) have struggled this season, being outscored 78-48. In contrast, the Dolphins (1-2) are dealing with the absence of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who is on injured reserve following a concussion sustained in Week 2. Skylar Thompson started in a 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks but left the game with a rib injury.
Miami coach Mike McDaniel announced that Tyler "Snoop" Huntley will start against the Titans, having been acquired from Baltimore’s practice squad earlier in the season. McDaniel praised Huntley’s abilities and familiarity with the team.
Miami currently ranks last in the NFL with an average of 11 points per game, failing to score a touchdown in their last seven quarters. Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill has also struggled, managing just six catches for 64 yards in the last two games. Despite the challenges, Hill expressed confidence in the team and its game plan for the matchup against Tennessee.
The Titans are struggling offensively as well, ranking 28th in scoring (16.0 points per game) and 29th in total offense (260.3 yards per game). Levis has recorded eight turnovers (five interceptions and three fumbles lost) but has also thrown four touchdown passes. Veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins believes in Levis’ potential to learn from his mistakes.
Levis enters Monday’s game with a 3-9 record as a starter. The Titans will be without cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (groin) for at least four games due to an injury, and standout defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons (elbow) missed practice on Friday.
For Miami, McDaniel reported that left tackle Terron Armstead and cornerback Kendall Fuller remain in concussion protocol, while linebacker David Long and cornerback Siran Neal have been dealing with hamstring injuries.
