Game Preview

Buffalo stands as one of five undefeated teams in the NFL, while the Baltimore Ravens are eager to demonstrate they can compete with top-tier teams like the Bills in the AFC.

As the teams clash on Sunday night in Baltimore, the Ravens will be hosting their second annual "Darkness Falls" event, featuring a college-style stadium blackout that has quarterback Lamar Jackson excited.

"When you hear the ‘Flock’ and see the crowd in all black, it’s an unescapable vibe," Jackson said with enthusiasm. "It’s hard to describe, like embracing the dark side."

Despite not needing a home advantage to beat the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday, the Ravens (1-2) allowed a 22-point lead to shrink before securing a 28-25 win. Baltimore has been outscored 32-7 in the fourth quarter of their last two games.

Derrick Henry led the Ravens with 151 rushing yards among the team’s 274 total against the Cowboys, scoring his first two touchdowns of the season. Jackson added 87 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Justice Hill contributed 33 yards.

"They form a solid 1-2 punch," said Ravens coach John Harbaugh about Henry and Hill. "They complement each other well, running the same plays and switching it up at times, providing a different pace for the defense."

On defense, the Ravens are making adjustments, recently adding pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue to their practice squad. Ngakoue has recorded 69 career sacks with six teams, including nine games for Baltimore in 2020. Meanwhile, Kyle Van Noy ranks third in the league with four sacks.

For the Bills, there have been few areas of concern this season.

Following a dominant 47-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Bills have a league-leading plus-64 scoring differential. They also boast a plus-5 turnover differential, only behind Green Bay, and rank in the top 10 for total defense (286.7 yards allowed per game), passing defense (168.3), and scoring defense (16 points per game).

Josh Allen spearheads an offense averaging 37.3 points per game, the highest in the league. He threw four touchdown passes before halftime against the Jaguars.

Allen was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after running back James Cook earned the same honor the previous week for his three-touchdown performance against the Miami Dolphins. Additionally, Gregory Rousseau was recognized as AFC Defensive Player of the Week for a three-sack game in Week 1.

"It’s a shame our O-line can’t win Offensive Player of the Week, because they really put in the work," Allen joked, acknowledging their crucial role.

Damar Hamlin recorded his first career interception during the Jaguars game, marking a significant moment for him following his cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals less than 20 months ago.

"We keep things straightforward and prioritize the team," Hamlin shared on "The Pat McAfee Show." "Buffalo is truly a special place."

For Sunday’s matchup, the Bills have ruled out linebacker Terrel Bernard (pec) and cornerback Taron Johnson (forearm), while rookie offensive lineman Tylan Grable (groin) was placed on IR. Cornerback Kaiir Elam (neck) was a full participant in Friday’s practice and has no injury designation.

The Ravens are facing challenges with their offensive line, as center Tyler Linderbaum (knee) missed Wednesday’s practice but returned later in the week and is now questionable. Left guard Andrew Vorhees (ankle) is doubtful, and cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis (hamstring) has been ruled out.

The Bills have won the last two matchups against the Ravens, including a playoff victory in the divisional round of the 2020-21 season.
