Game Preview

After starting the season 0-4-0, the Colorado Avalanche appear to have regained their form. They aim for their third consecutive win on Tuesday when they travel to Seattle to face the Kraken.

The Avalanche secured their first victory on Friday with a 4-3 overtime win over Anaheim, thanks to Nathan MacKinnon’s game-winner. They followed that up with a 4-1 win against San Jose on Sunday, highlighted by Ross Colton’s two goals.

Colton has been thriving on the top line with MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, scoring twice in each of the last two games. His six goals this season tied for second in the NHL as of Monday. Colton credits his linemates for their chemistry and support, saying, "Playing with Nate and Mikko is a pleasure. I just try to get open, and they find me. We’ve got to keep it up."

MacKinnon, with two assists on Sunday, now has points in all six games this season (2 goals, 9 assists), while Cale Makar also extended his point streak to six games, adding a goal and two assists on Sunday.

Goalie Justus Annunen made 25 saves in his first start of the season, with coach Jared Bednar praising his solid performance and key saves.

Meanwhile, the Kraken are on a three-game winning streak, including a 2-1 overtime win against previously undefeated Calgary on Saturday. Jordan Eberle scored the game-winner in OT, and Chandler Stephenson tallied his first goal for Seattle. Stephenson, who scored on a 5-on-3 power play, said the team is gaining confidence and aiming for top-10 rankings in both penalty kill and power play.
