Game Preview

The Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks meet on Monday in a showdown where both teams look to snap out of recent struggles. Memphis is a 5-point favorite, and the total sits at 232 points—a high mark reflecting both teams’ offensive potential, even amid key absences.

Memphis Grizzlies’ Outlook

The Grizzlies have dropped two straight games and are missing star guard Ja Morant, who is dealing with an AC joint sprain. Morant, averaging 21.2 points and 7.9 assists, has missed 16 games this season, and Memphis is 9-7 without him. Key reserves Marcus Smart and Santi Aldama are also sidelined, leaving Memphis thin at critical positions. In Saturday’s 121-113 loss to Golden State, turnovers were a glaring issue—23 giveaways led to 28 Warriors points.

Desmond Bane stepped up with 22 points and 10 assists in that game, but he also had eight turnovers. Jaren Jackson Jr. played heavy minutes as well, further straining the team’s depth. Coach Taylor Jenkins emphasized the importance of cleaning up the mistakes: “Turnovers are killing us. We have to get better, and it starts with accountability and film study.”

Dallas Mavericks’ Situation

The Mavericks are on a four-game losing streak, largely due to the absence of Luka Doncic, who remains out with a calf injury and is expected to miss at least three more weeks. Kyrie Irving also missed Friday’s 134-122 loss to Cleveland due to a lumbar sprain and has been ruled out for Monday.

However, there was a bright spot in that Cleveland game—Quentin Grimes. The guard posted 26 points and six assists, shooting an impressive 9-of-14 from the field. With Doncic and Irving out, Grimes showcased his playmaking ability. “Grimes was aggressive and got to the rim consistently,” coach Jason Kidd said. “We need more of that when our stars are sidelined.”

Betting Breakdown and Prediction

Both teams are battling injuries, but Memphis still has Bane and Jackson Jr. to lean on, while Dallas has been forced to rely on secondary options like Grimes. Memphis’ defense remains solid at home, and their ability to force turnovers could cause problems for Dallas’ depleted lineup.

If the Mavericks can’t keep their offense flowing without Doncic and Irving, Memphis should cover the spread. The Grizzlies’ recent turnover issues could also create fast-break opportunities, making the over worth a look despite the absence of key players.

Prediction: Bet on Memphis to cover and consider the over if Dallas struggles to defend without their starters.
