Game Preview
Auburn puts its No. 1 ranking on the line as it hosts an improving Oklahoma squad in a key SEC showdown Tuesday night. The Tigers are undefeated at home (9-0) and have won 13 straight games, but the Sooners are coming off a dominant win over a ranked opponent and will look to play spoiler.
Oklahoma Sooners: Can They Pull Off Another Upset?
Oklahoma (16-5, 3-5 SEC) crushed No. 24 Vanderbilt in a 97-67 blowout on Saturday, showcasing the offensive firepower they’ll need to keep pace with Auburn. Freshman guard Jeremiah Fears led the way with 21 points, while top scorer Jalon Moore (18.2 PPG) chipped in 19 points, surpassing the 1,000-point milestone for his career.
Another key contributor was Dayton Forsythe, a freshman guard known for his defensive intensity. Against Vanderbilt, he set season highs with 14 points and three steals, showing that Oklahoma has young talent that can step up in big games.
Head coach Porter Moser praised Forsythe’s impact, saying his energy is contagious on both ends of the floor. However, beating No. 24 at home and No. 1 on the road are two very different tasks.
The Sooners have gained momentum after starting SEC play 0-4, now winning three of their last four. They’ll need their defensive pressure and transition offense to slow down Auburn’s explosive attack.
Oklahoma Betting Props to Watch:
Jeremiah Fears Over 15.5 Points – The freshman is coming off a 21-point game and should see plenty of scoring opportunities.
Oklahoma Team Total Over 68.5 – The Sooners have been trending upward offensively, averaging 81.0 PPG over their last four.
Auburn Tigers: The No. 1 Team for a Reason
Auburn (20-1, 8-0 SEC) has been rolling through the SEC, with their latest victory being a 92-82 win over No. 23 Ole Miss on Saturday. The Tigers rank 11th nationally in scoring (84.5 PPG) and third in scoring margin (+18.0 PPG), making them one of the most dominant teams in the country.
Johni Broome (18.3 PPG) led the way against Ole Miss with 20 points, continuing his stellar play as the team’s go-to option. However, Auburn’s biggest weapon in that game was the 3-point shot, as they went 14-for-28 from beyond the arc.
Head coach Bruce Pearl credits the rebounding effort of his big men for allowing the offense to get clean looks from deep. Chad Baker-Mazara struggled in the first half, but he caught fire after halftime, finishing with 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three.
Even with Auburn’s dominance at home, the Tigers must stay locked in defensively against an Oklahoma squad that has multiple scoring threats.
Auburn Betting Props to Watch:
Johni Broome Over 19.5 Points – The Tigers’ leading scorer is a matchup nightmare and should dominate inside.
Auburn Team Total Over 85.5 – The Tigers are lethal at home and have topped 85 points in six of their last eight games.
Final Prediction: Can Oklahoma Keep It Close?
Oklahoma has turned things around recently and has the talent to push Auburn early, but the Tigers have too much firepower to let this one slip. Expect Auburn to control the pace, dominate on the boards and pull away late.
Final Score Prediction: Auburn 88, Oklahoma 68
Best Bets: Auburn -17.5 | Over 154.0
