WNBA Preview and Prediction: Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty
Spread: New York -4.0 | Total: 167.5
Minnesota Lynx Betting Breakdown
The Lynx roll into Brooklyn as the WNBA’s best team at 26-5, riding a four-game winning streak and victories in eight of their last nine. Their only meeting with New York this season came on July 30, when they won 100-93 at home behind Napheesa Collier’s 30 points and nine rebounds.
However, Collier, the league’s leading scorer at 23.5 PPG, will miss her third straight game with an ankle sprain. Without their MVP, Minnesota leans heavily on Kayla McBride (14.6 PPG), Courtney Williams (13.9), and recent trade addition DiJonai Carrington (12.5), who brings defensive toughness and will likely spend time guarding Sabrina Ionescu.
Minnesota’s depth and defense have carried them through Collier’s absence so far, but facing the Liberty on the road without her is a tougher test.
New York Liberty Betting Breakdown
The Liberty sit in second place at 20-10 and are on a three-game winning streak despite missing Breanna Stewart for over two weeks due to a knee injury. This will be her seventh straight absence, and they’re also without Kennedy Burke and Nyara Sabally.
Sabrina Ionescu has stepped up as the offensive catalyst, averaging 19.9 points (fourth in the league) and dropping 31 in the previous matchup against Minnesota. Jonquel Jones remains a two-way force with 14.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and strong rim protection.
Emma Meesseman has been a pleasant surprise since returning to the league, posting 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in Friday’s win at Dallas. New York’s ability to adapt without Stewart has been key, and their home-court edge could tilt this rematch in their favor.
Prediction & Betting Angle
Minnesota handled the Liberty earlier this season but did so with Collier leading the charge. Without her, they lose their top scorer and defensive anchor. New York, even without Stewart, has enough firepower and home energy to cover here.
Lean: Over 167.5 — both teams have offensive weapons, and the previous matchup hit 193 points.
Score Prediction: New York 89, Minnesota 83
Best Bet: New York -4.0
