Arizona Diamondbacks Preview

The Diamondbacks are somehow still clinging to life in the NL West like that guy at the end of every action movie who refuses to let go. Winners of three straight, Arizona rolls into Los Angeles hoping Eduardo Rodriguez (5-8, 5.67 ERA, and probably a lifetime supply of antacids) can keep them afloat.

Rodriguez has been giving up hits like free samples at Costco. A 1.64 WHIP means runners are on base more often than stadium beach balls, and that’s not exactly a recipe for success against the Dodgers’ lineup. Still, Arizona’s offense has some bite, they’re second in the NL in slugging, and Corbin Carroll keeps cranking home runs like it’s his side hustle. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has also been hot lately, driving in runs like an Uber driver in rush hour.

But let’s be real, Arizona on the road has been as reliable as a 2002 minivan. Their 33-37 road record screams “do not trust.”

Los Angeles Dodgers Preview

The Dodgers, meanwhile, are once again doing Dodgers things: winning, scoring, and making every other NL West team feel like the JV squad. At 77-58, they’re firmly in first, and their 44-25 home record makes Dodger Stadium feel less like a ballpark and more like a fortress.

They’ll send Tyler Glasnow to the mound, who’s 1-2 with a 3.36 ERA. Sure, the win-loss record looks sad, but don’t let it fool you. Glasnow’s stuff is nastier than a gas station bathroom. He’s got 75 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.17, which is elite compared to the chaos Arizona is running out there.

On offense, Freddie Freeman continues to be Freddie Freeman, consistent, professional, and annoyingly good. He’s hitting .300 with 34 doubles and 75 RBIs, and if baseball had a “most dad-like player award,” he’d win it every year. Mookie Betts, meanwhile, has been steady, getting on base and reminding everyone that he’s one of the most complete players in the sport.

Betting Outlook & Prediction

The Dodgers enter as moneyline favorites at -217, with the total set at 8.5 runs. The books clearly think L.A. takes care of business, and who can blame them? Arizona has been plucky, but asking Rodriguez to tame the Dodgers’ lineup is like asking a screen door to stop a hurricane.

The Diamondbacks might scrape a couple of runs together, but the Dodgers’ depth and Glasnow’s arm should be more than enough.

Final Score Prediction:  Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 3
Bets Bet: LA Dodgers -1.5 (-105)
Total:  Over 8.0 (-116)
