Memphis Grizzlies Preview

The Memphis Grizzlies come into this game acting like that kid who spills his soda on the carpet, gets yelled at, and then cleans it up perfectly just to prove a point. They were obliterated 146 to 114 by the Miami Heat on Friday, then turned around the next night and absolutely bullied the Indiana Pacers 128 to 103. That’s the kind of bounce-back energy you love to see if you bet on teams with emotional damage.

Ja Morant, the human highlight reel, is once again doing things that make physics cry. He dropped 35 points on opening night, then followed it up by casually averaging 22 per game while hitting 95 percent of his free throws. Not bad for a guy who was supposedly questionable with an ankle. It’s like the injury report was written just to give the Warriors false hope.

The real comedy for Memphis fans is how rookies Cedric Coward and Javon Small have been playing like they didn’t get the memo that rookies are supposed to struggle. Coward has put up 27 points in just his third career game. If this keeps up, the rookie hazing will have to involve guarding Curry instead of carrying bags.

The Grizzlies have shown they can score, run, and talk trash, but let’s be honest, stopping Golden State in their own building is like trying to stop Curry from shimmying after a three.

Golden State Warriors Preview

Golden State split its last two games, beating Denver in overtime and then forgetting how to play defense in Portland. But you can’t really be too hard on them when Stephen Curry is turning back the clock like it’s 2016 and his knees are sponsored by Gatorade.

Curry just dropped 42 and 35 points in back-to-back games, and he’s shooting threes like he’s trying to win a bet with God. He’s also 20 for 20 on free throws, which feels unnecessary at this point. He could probably shoot them blindfolded while balancing on a yoga ball and still go perfect.

At age 37, Curry became the oldest point guard in NBA history to score 35-plus in consecutive games. Most people at 37 are complaining about back pain and slow Wi-Fi, but not Steph, he’s out there breaking souls and box scores.

Coach Steve Kerr’s motto has been “Win the week,” which sounds like something a motivational speaker says before selling you a $300 course. Still, the Warriors have done just that, sitting at 2-1 despite an exhausting schedule.

Betting Outlook & Prediction

Golden State enters as an 8-point favorite with a total at 239, which feels fair considering both teams play defense only when absolutely necessary. Expect a fast-paced circus of deep threes, missed rotations, and sideline dancing.

The Grizzlies will hang around for three quarters before Curry turns the fourth into a personal fireworks show. Golden State covers, and the total just sneaks over as Curry breaks more hearts and possibly another record.

Final Score:  Warriors 127, Grizzlies 116
Lean:  Golden State -8.0
Total:
Over 239.0
