Auburn Tigers: The Special K Chaos Factory Arrives in Tucson

Auburn rolls into Arizona carrying a record of 7 and 2 and enough firepower from its Special K duo to make Tony the Tiger nervous. Kevin Overton and Keyshawn Hall are fresh off an absurd shooting night against NC State in which they casually knocked down 11 threes like they were popping popcorn in a microwave.

Overton put up 29 points on Wednesday and apparently decided that missing is optional. He hit six triples, grabbed nine rebounds, and played 37 minutes without a single turnover. That is not a basketball stat line. That is a cosmic glitch.

Keyshawn Hall was even louder. He slapped down 28 points and 10 boards and hit five threes of his own. Hall does not just score. He inhales confidence and replaces it with panic in opposing defenses. When he and Overton start rolling, Auburn becomes a swirling tornado of jump shots and good vibes.

The Tigers should arrive in Tucson with swagger, having beaten Oregon and St Johns in Vegas before running into a Michigan team that punched them in the forehead. But the real challenge is now. Auburn has never lost to Arizona. The Wildcats are in no mood to let that streak continue.

Arizona Wildcats: The Desert Death March Continues

Arizona has spent the first month of the season chewing through ranked teams like late night snacks. They have beaten Florida, UCLA and UConn. They have beaten the flu. They have beaten sprained ankles. They have two home games in two weeks because apparently life is too easy for them.

Jaden Bradley has become the unofficial bouncer of high profile matchups. He averages more than 14 points and almost two steals, and he spent November shutting down elite guards like he gets paid per frustration created. Against Florida, UCLA and UConn he scored 21 per game and shot the lights out.

Bradley will get his old Alabama rival Auburn, and the fans in Tucson are ready to detonate.

Freshmen Koa Peat and Brayden Burries keep scoring like they skipped childhood. Ivan Kharchenkov returns from his ankle tweak to balance the frontcourt. Coach Tommy Lloyd insists he is trying to balance practice rhythm and game rhythm, but with this roster he might as well balance a spoon on his nose. Everything seems to work somehow.

Arizona has looked every bit like a national title contender, and the crowd in Tucson will treat this game like a championship that has been marinating all week.

Final Betting Prediction

Expect chaos. Expect threes. Expect both teams to sprint up and down like someone forgot to install brakes.

Arizona is deeper, fresher and more balanced, and the home environment should tilt this matchup.
