Detroit vs Golden State Preview & Prediction

Spread: Golden State -2.5
Moneyline: Golden State (-140)
Total: 224.5

Golden State Warriors Betting Preview

Golden State gets a favorable matchup at the perfect time. The Warriors remain the most aggressive three point shooting team in the league, averaging 44.8 attempts per game and pushing the pace relentlessly. That volume turned into fireworks in their last outing, a 140-124 win over Utah where they drained 23 three pointers and scored a season high in points.

Stephen Curry continues to anchor everything offensively as the NBA’s all time leader in made threes, but what stood out recently was balance. Seven different Warriors knocked down multiple shots from deep. Moses Moody went 5 of 9 from beyond the arc, while Will Richard and Buddy Hield each hit three triples off the bench. Golden State’s reserves shot 48 percent from deep, a massive boost for a team adjusting without Jimmy Butler III, who was lost for the season on Jan. 19.

That depth matters against a Detroit team struggling to defend the perimeter. Golden State does not need to force offense when the ball is moving and shooters are confident. At home, those runs can stack quickly and put pressure on opponents to keep up.

Warriors Player Prop Pick: Stephen Curry over 4.5 made three pointers
Detroit’s recent perimeter defense issues align poorly with Golden State’s shot profile.

Detroit Pistons Betting Preview

Detroit still owns one of the best records in the Eastern Conference and remains 9-4 in January, but cracks have started to show in two specific areas. The Pistons are not shooting well from deep and they are allowing opponents far too much comfort beyond the arc.

In Thursday’s loss to Phoenix, Detroit shot just 6 of 29 from three point range, finishing at 20.7 percent. Over the last four games, that number sits at 28.5 percent as the Pistons have gone 2-2 during that stretch. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff has pointed out that the looks are there, but results are not following.

Defensively, the trend is just as concerning. Detroit has allowed at least one opposing player to shoot 50 percent or better from three in three straight games. Even in wins, perimeter containment has been shaky, and that is dangerous heading into San Francisco.

Despite the shooting slump, Detroit can still score inside and play through its stars. When the Pistons control tempo and limit transition threes, they stay competitive. Asking them to chase shooters all night, however, is a tall order.

Pistons Player Prop Pick: Cade Cunningham over 23.5 points
When Detroit needs offense to keep pace, the ball stays in his hands.

NBA Final Score & Expert Prediction

This matchup sets up as a style clash. Detroit wants efficiency and control, while Golden State wants volume and pace. With the Pistons struggling to defend the three and Golden State shooting confidently at home, the edge goes to the Warriors.

Final Score: Warriors 118, Pistons 111
Lean: Golden State -2.5

Over 224.5
