Boston vs Philadelphia Preview & Prediction

Spread: Boston -7.5

Boston Celtics Betting Outlook

Boston got punched in Game 2, and honestly, they needed it. After cruising in the opener, the Celtics came out flat and paid for it. Jaylen Brown tried to carry the load with 36 points, but the supporting cast did not follow.

Jayson Tatum nearly posted a triple-double with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists, but even that was not enough to overcome poor shooting across the board. The Celtics hit just 39.3 percent from the field and struggled badly from deep. That is not their usual profile.

The bigger takeaway is not panic, it is correction. Boston generated good looks, especially from Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser, but the shots simply did not fall. Over a series, that tends to normalize.

Defensively, Boston still controlled the glass and dictated physical play. That foundation remains intact. If the shooting regresses back to the mean, this team quickly regains control.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Outlook

Philadelphia flipped the script in Game 2, and it was driven by energy and fearless guard play. VJ Edgecombe delivered a breakout performance with 30 points and 10 rebounds, making history in the process. That level of production from a rookie changes everything.

Tyrese Maxey was equally impactful, dropping 29 points and nine assists while taking over late. His confidence down the stretch gave Philadelphia a closer when they needed it most.

What makes this win even more impressive is the absence of Joel Embiid. Without their star center, the Sixers are relying on pace, perimeter scoring, and opportunistic offense. It worked in Game 2, but sustaining that approach against a team like Boston is a challenge.

Rebounding remains a concern, and the interior presence is limited. If Boston tightens up defensively and hits shots, Philadelphia will need another near-perfect performance from its guards.

NBA Playoffs Prediction & Betting Angle

Boston as a 7.5-point favorite reflects the expectation of a bounce-back performance. Game 2 exposed issues, but most of them were execution-based rather than structural. That is important.

Philadelphia showed it can compete, especially with strong guard play, but relying on that level of shot-making again is risky. Without Embiid, their margin for error is small.

The total at 215.5 leans under. If Boston sharpens defensively and controls tempo, scoring should tighten compared to the previous game.

Boston has the depth, defense, and consistency to respond here. Expect a focused effort.

Final Score: Celtics 108, 76ers 97
