Detroit vs Cleveland Preview & Prediction

Spread: Cleveland -4.0

Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Outlook

The Cavaliers finally found the response they desperately needed in Game 3, and now the pressure shifts squarely onto Detroit heading into Monday night.

Donovan Mitchell carried Cleveland offensively for most of the contest with 35 points and 10 rebounds, but the biggest late-game difference came from veteran guard James Harden. Harden completely controlled the final minutes, scoring seven crucial points over the last 90 seconds to rescue Cleveland from falling into a dangerous 3-0 series hole.

The Cavaliers remain undefeated at home this postseason, and that confidence clearly matters. Cleveland looked far more composed offensively in Game 3 compared to the opening two matchups, especially when controlling pace and forcing Detroit into uncomfortable half-court possessions.

Another major advantage has been the play of Jarrett Allen. Allen continues dominating the paint against Detroit’s frontcourt, scoring 18 points on efficient shooting Saturday after posting 22 in Game 2. His interior presence has created second-chance opportunities while limiting Detroit’s success around the rim.

Cleveland also received an important boost with sharpshooter Sam Merrill returning from injury. His spacing and perimeter shooting helped open the floor late in Game 3, and his availability strengthens an already deep rotation.

If the Cavaliers continue protecting home court while limiting turnovers, they are positioned well to even this series.

Detroit Pistons Betting Outlook

Detroit had a massive opportunity to take complete control of the series Saturday, but late-game mistakes completely changed the outcome.

Cade Cunningham still delivered another brilliant postseason performance, recording 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists for his second playoff triple-double. However, the closing stretch will haunt Detroit. Cunningham committed three turnovers in just 41 seconds late in the fourth quarter, including a costly steal that directly gave Cleveland the lead for good.

Despite those mistakes, Detroit showed stretches where it clearly dictated the game physically and emotionally. Tobias Harris and reserve big man Paul Reed helped fuel a second-half comeback that erased a 17-point deficit and nearly pushed the Pistons within one win of the conference finals.

The concern for Detroit remains consistency in the frontcourt. Jalen Duren continues struggling offensively against Allen and has attempted only 15 shots over the last two games combined. Detroit needs far more aggression and production from him if they want to control the paint.

Injuries could also become a factor. Caris LeVert and Kevin Huerter are both questionable, which could thin Detroit’s perimeter depth even further.

The Pistons remain dangerous because of Cunningham’s ability to create offense, but avoiding careless turnovers late in games is now absolutely critical.

NBA Playoffs Prediction & Betting Angle

Cleveland finally regained momentum in Game 3, and the combination of home-court advantage, playoff experience, and interior dominance gives the Cavaliers a strong edge entering Game 4.

Detroit has proven capable of competing with Cleveland for long stretches, but the Pistons’ late-game execution issues continue costing them in crucial moments. Allen’s matchup advantage inside and Harden’s veteran leadership could once again become the deciding factors.

The total of 213.5 feels reasonable considering the defensive intensity throughout this series, but Cleveland’s improved offensive rhythm at home slightly favors the over.

Final Score: Cavaliers 111, Pistons 104
Lean: Cleveland -4.0

Over 213.5
