Toronto vs Golden State Preview & Prediction

Spread: Golden State -11.5
Moneyline: Golden State (-700)
Total: 169.5

Toronto Needs More Than a Passport

The Tempo head back into San Francisco hoping the sequel has a happier ending. Unfortunately, the first movie ended with Golden State winning 96-79, and the critics gave Toronto’s bench one star out of five.

Help is on the way, though. Newly acquired Aneesah Morrow (11.6 points, 8.9 rebounds per game) is expected to make her debut after finally having time to unpack, meet her teammates and locate the locker room.

Starters Did Their Job

Toronto deserves some credit. Despite missing leading scorers Marina Mabrey (neck) and Brittney Sykes (foot), the starting lineup outscored Golden State’s starters 71-50. Not bad.

The problem? The bench contributed just eight points while shooting 3-for-16 and an ice-cold 0-for-8 from deep. That’s less “spark plug” and more “dead flashlight.”

Coach Sandy Brondello refused to panic, praising her team’s fight despite dealing with enough injuries to fill an orthopedic clinic.

Valkyries Love Depth

Golden State keeps proving why it’s one of the WNBA’s toughest teams. If one player cools off, another shows up like an uninvited guest with 25 points.

This time it was Janelle Salaun, who followed up her 26-point performance in the previous meeting by dropping another game-high 24. Apparently Toronto forgot to remove her from the VIP list.

The Valkyries also locked things down defensively with eight steals, five blocks and held the Tempo to just 18 points in both the third and fourth quarters. That’s less defense and more basketball theft.

LVSB Final Take

Toronto should look better with Morrow available, but asking a short-handed squad to beat Golden State on the road is like bringing a water pistol to a dragon fight. The Valkyries’ depth keeps wearing teams down, and another comfortable win feels likely.

Final Score: Valkyries 90, Tempo 75
