Indiana Needs a Reset
Indiana heads to Chicago as a 3-point favorite with the total set at a massive 186.5. The Fever are 24-14 and already playoff-bound, but consecutive losses have introduced the always-popular late-season activity known as unnecessary panic.
Indiana fell 109-102 to New York despite shooting 57.1% from the field and 42.3% from three. Apparently scoring 102 points still isn’t enough when defense occasionally clocks out early.
Kelsey Mitchell, Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston combined for 68 points, but the trio went only 9-for-16 from the free-throw line. Clark, normally an 86.4% career foul shooter, somehow missed three of four. Basketball remains weird.
Chicago Suddenly Got Hot
Chicago is only 15-22, but somebody forgot to tell the Sky their season is nearly over.
They have won three straight after beating Golden State 73-70, with rookie Sydney Taylor drilling the winning three-pointer with 0.6 seconds remaining. She finished with 14 points while going 4-for-6 from deep.
Natasha Cloud led Chicago with 17 points, Kamilla Cardoso posted 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Courtney Vandersloot contributed 12 points with five assists.
The Sky also held Golden State to 35.7% shooting, which is the type of defense Indiana might want to borrow.
LVSB Prediction
Indiana owns the superior roster and desperately needs to rediscover consistency before the postseason. Mitchell and Clark give the Fever enough scoring firepower to punish Chicago, while Boston provides another reliable option inside.
Chicago’s three-game winning streak deserves respect, but two of those victories required late-game heroics. Eventually living dangerously sends the bill.
At only -3, Indiana is our preferred side. The 186.5 total looks gigantic, especially if Chicago continues defending at its recent level.
