The New York Liberty have won seven straight games and are starting to look like the basketball version of a luxury sports car that just got out of the shop. The scary part? They weren’t even fully healthy during most of the streak.
Breanna Stewart continues to stuff stat sheets like she’s cramming for finals, while Jonquel Jones dropped 20 points in the Liberty’s latest 86-64 demolition. Sabrina Ionescu is finally back in the lineup after injury issues, giving New York yet another weapon. Because apparently seven straight wins wasn’t unfair enough.
The Liberty enter at 10-4 and have already locked up a spot in the Commissioner’s Cup championship game.
Chicago Sky: Searching For Answers
Chicago enters at 4-9 and has lost eight of its last nine games. The Sky are fighting hard, but moral victories don’t cash betting tickets.
The bright spot has been rookie Sydney Taylor, who exploded for 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting in the team’s most recent game. Skylar Diggins continues to lead the club with 15.2 points per game, while Kamilla Cardoso looks to end her longest stretch of the season without a double-double.
Unfortunately for Chicago, welcoming the hottest team in the league while carrying a 1-5 home record is a bit like inviting a tornado over for dinner.

The Liberty are healthier, deeper, and currently playing like a team that accidentally turned the difficulty setting down to beginner mode. Chicago has shown plenty of effort, but effort alone won’t slow down a roster loaded with stars.
