Sacramento Kings 2022-23 NBA Preview, Season Odds, Props & Futures Predictions

It was an offseason of smart changes for a Sacramento Kings team that hasn’t made the playoffs in 16 years or finished higher than 11th in the West more than twice over that span.

The most important move was arguably the coach they hired, Mike Brown to shepherd in this new era. And the fact that the Warriors top assistant and arguably one of the most sought-after coaches in the offseason would choose the Kings is testament to a group with a lot of potential.

They made a huge trade at the February deadline to bring in C Domantas Sabonis to be a building block with PG De’Aaron Fox.

Then they drafted PF Keegan Murray at fourth to fill a much-needed spot up front. They also traded for 24-year-old SG Kevin Huerter from Atlanta and signed sharp shooter and fellow 24-year-old Malik Monk from the Lakers.

Now, a team that had major spacing issues and too many players competing for the same positions is much better balanced and much more able to shoot three-pointers and open up space for Fox and Sabonis to operate.

The offense should be electric and having one of the best defensive coaches in the game in Brown who helped mold that Warriors championship defense last year should help players buy in on that end of the court as well.

Liev Jackson NBA Season Prediction on Kings:

Narrative helps when it comes to individual award season. If the Kings can make it to the play-in round, and/or post a winning record for the first time since 2005-06, Murray will likely have played a huge role and that will give him an edge for ROY.

This is a team that should be able to compete with the Lakers, Pelicans and Trail Blazers for one of the final two playoff spots. And having a full season for this young team to round into form makes them a sneaky long-shot pick, especially at these odds.
