Game Preview
The Cleveland Guardians are banking on their ace, Tanner Bibee, to help them level the American League Division Series in Game 4 against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
"We’ve got our go-to guy on the mound tomorrow, and he’s been outstanding every time out," said pitcher Alex Cobb, who struggled in Wednesday’s 3-0 loss. "Expect him to deliver and then hand it over to our dominant bullpen."
Bibee was exceptional in Game 1, throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings in the Guardians’ 7-0 victory, and they’ll need a repeat performance as they look to bounce back from being down 2-1 in the best-of-five series.

Cleveland’s challenge lies in overcoming the Tigers’ pitching strategy, which has kept them scoreless for the last 20 innings, dating back to Game 1.
Detroit has employed a "pitching chaos" strategy that has proven successful for the past two months. Reliever Brant Hurter commented on the effectiveness of this approach after replacing starter Keider Montero in the second inning of Wednesday’s game.
"Knowing the lineup they put out and our game plan, I expected this strategy to work," Hurter said. "A.J. really made it happen by mixing things up and keeping hitters off balance."
This strategy specifically targeted Jose Ramirez, who went 0-for-3 with an intentional walk as the Tigers successfully prevented him from seeing the same pitcher twice.
"Our roster allows us to be flexible and maximize our strengths," Tigers manager A.J. Hinch explained. "It’s tough for hitters to face four different pitchers, and it’s crucial that our guys throw strikes and get key outs."
