Houston Rockets Outlook

The Rockets are looking to close out the first half of the season with back-to-back wins, but they’ll have to do it without key contributors. Houston’s 119-111 victory over the Suns on Wednesday was fueled by Tari Eason’s standout performance, but he and Steven Adams will sit this one out due to load management.

Despite battling injuries, the Rockets have found ways to stay competitive, with Jalen Green (22 points vs. Phoenix) stepping up alongside Amen Thompson, who recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. Alperen Sengun continues to dominate inside, adding 17 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

The biggest challenge for Houston remains their injury list. Fred VanVleet (ankle) and Jabari Smith Jr. (hand) remain out, but Smith is nearing his return. While Ime Udoka has been forced to juggle rotations, the Rockets’ ability to create extra shot opportunities and control tempo has kept them in the thick of things.

“We’re still working through lineups, trying to see where we can find an edge,” Udoka said. “With guys out, it’s about seeing what different rotations bring us.”

Houston’s depth will be tested, but they’ve been tough at home this season. Expect them to lean on Sengun and Green to lead the scoring while their defensive intensity looks to slow down a Warriors offense that can catch fire at any moment.

Golden State Warriors Outlook

Golden State’s momentum took a hit on Wednesday with a 111-107 loss to Dallas, snapping their two-game winning streak since acquiring Jimmy Butler. However, the Warriors showed flashes of dominance in the second half, erasing a 15-point deficit before falling short in the closing minutes.

Butler continues to settle into his new role, contributing 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists against the Mavericks. Stephen Curry added 25 points, five rebounds, and eight assists, while the Warriors’ defense forced key turnovers to keep the game competitive.

The biggest issue for Golden State has been maintaining consistency. While their defense stepped up against Dallas, small mistakes cost them late. Guard Gary Payton II emphasized the need for more discipline, noting that “one lapse leads to easy buckets,” something they can’t afford against a scrappy Rockets team.

Golden State is still figuring out its chemistry, but Butler’s presence is already making an impact. The combination of Curry and Butler has created more offensive balance, and the Warriors will aim to bounce back against a Houston squad missing key pieces.

Betting Predictions & Pick

Spread Pick: Houston’s depth has been hit hard, and with Adams and Eason out, they’ll need to rely heavily on their starters. Meanwhile, Golden State is starting to click with Butler in the mix. The Warriors have struggled to string together wins, but against a depleted Rockets team, expect them to take advantage. Take the Warriors +6.5.

Total Pick: Houston will look to slow the game down and control possessions, while Golden State’s defense has shown improvement. With injuries limiting the Rockets’ offensive firepower, the under 217.0 looks like the best play.

Player Props to Watch:

Stephen Curry Over 24.5 Points: Curry has been on fire, scoring 25+ in his last four games.

Alperen Sengun Over 10.5 Rebounds: With Adams out, Sengun will have to dominate the boards.

Jimmy Butler Over 5.5 Assists: Butler has been facilitating well since joining the Warriors.

Expect Golden State to take advantage of a shorthanded Houston team and bounce back with a win heading into the All-Star break.
