Atlanta Braves Betting Preview
Atlanta continues to look for answers as it tries to snap out of a slump that’s seen them drop five of their last six games. Now eight games under .500, the Braves are hoping that the return of Jurickson Profar can breathe some life into the lineup.
Profar, back from an 80-game suspension, was productive in Triple-A Gwinnett, slashing .326 with three home runs in 13 games. It’s unclear where exactly he’ll slot into the batting order, but his switch-hitting power could add some depth behind Acuña and Olson.
Wednesday’s mound duties fall to rookie Didier Fuentes (0-2, 10.80 ERA), who’s still searching for his first quality big-league outing. His fastball touches the high 90s, but his command and secondary pitches have been erratic through two rough starts. He’ll need to settle in fast against a lineup that’s heating up.
Braves Betting Angle:
With Profar back and playing at home, there’s some upside, but trusting Fuentes on the mound is a risk. If the bats don’t wake up early, Atlanta could be chasing again.
Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview
Winners of five of their last seven, the Angels are quietly playing solid baseball. Their 4-0 win in the series opener was powered by timely hitting and sharp pitching, something they’ll look to continue behind left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (3-6, 2.79 ERA).
Kikuchi is in a groove, coming off a dominant seven-inning, 12-strikeout showing against Boston. His ability to mix his curveball and slider has hitters guessing, and he’s allowed three or fewer earned runs in 15 of his 17 starts.
While he hasn’t seen much of the Braves, his recent form suggests he can carve through a lineup that’s struggled to generate runs lately. The Angels’ offense has also been doing enough to support quality outings, something Kikuchi has taken full advantage of.
Angels Betting Angle:
Given Kikuchi’s consistency and Atlanta’s ongoing offensive woes, the road underdog offers real value in this spot, especially with Fuentes still trying to adjust to MLB hitters.
Prediction
Kikuchi leads the way as L.A. bags another road win. Braves keep it close, but bullpen struggles late.
