Cleveland Guardians Outlook
Just when it seemed like the Guardians were cooked after a brutal 10-game skid, they flipped the switch and now find themselves on the verge of sweeping the Astros in Houston. Tuesday’s comeback 10-6 win featured a pop-up grand slam from rookie Angel Martinez, his first career big-league bomb off All-Star closer Josh Hader, who clearly should’ve called it a night after the ninth.
Slade Cecconi (3-4, 3.56 ERA) will toe the rubber for Cleveland. He’s quietly been one of their most consistent arms lately, sporting a 2.76 ERA over his last six starts. He’s kept the ball in the park and hitters off balance with a steady mix of sliders and deception. This will be his first career start against Houston.
Guardians Player Prop Picks:
José Ramírez Over 1.5 Total Bases – He’s always a threat from both sides of the plate and thrives in high-leverage matchups.
Steven Kwan to record a Single – With Cecconi on the mound and a patient approach, expect Kwan to get on base and set the table.
Houston Astros Outlook
Tuesday night’s bullpen gamble didn’t pay off, and now the Astros need to regroup fast. Manager Joe Espada sent Josh Hader back out for a second inning, a rarity this season and it backfired big time. With Hader likely unavailable tonight, the pressure’s on starter Brandon Walter (1-1, 4.15 ERA) to go deep.
Walter has been serviceable but inconsistent, with just one win in six starts. He’ll be making his second start against Cleveland this year after a solid six-inning outing in June.
Astros Player Prop Picks:
Cam Smith Over 1.5 Total Bases – Smith has been seeing the ball well lately and matches up favorably against Slade Cecconi’s fastball-heavy arsenal.
Jose Altuve Over 0.5 RBIs – Always a threat with runners in scoring position, Smith’s clutch bat might be the X-factor.
Game Prediction & Betting Lean
Houston avoids the sweep with just enough offense and a solid outing from Walter, but this one should stay tight and low-scoring.
Final Score Prediction: Astros 6, Guardians 4
